Use Amazon Fire TV Stick in Canada

If you're like me and like to access US content like Netflix US and Hulu Plus in Canada, the Amazon Fire TV Stick is a great option to unblock us services. If you live near a US border, head down to your closest Best Buy location and pick one up for only $39.99

The Amazon Fire TV stick can run a US DNS service proxy to help access region restricted services like Netflix and Hulu Plus. I suggest using a service called Blockless as it has had excellent results for me.

if you already have a Canadian Amazon account be sure to add a secondary US address. You can get a free US address to use here. You don't need to register, simply use the one provided. It's a general address used to cross border shopping.

The easiest way it first setup your US DNS in your router, if you don't know how to set it up in your router then setting it up in the Fire TV stick itself is the next best option.

Setup your Smart DNS Solution
Getting Amazon FIre Stick in Canada working can seem like a challenge, but is relatively easy once you follow all the steps. All you need to do is to sign up for a Smart DNS service like BlocklessThese services mask your location and servers think your computer is located in the U.S., and so allow you to see "geoblocked" content like the Hulu Plus and Netflix  in Canada. The folks at Blockless created a great step by step guide on setup of their service on a number of devices.
